Welcome to Visual Arts Year 8
I hope you can look at art this semester in Visual Arts with an open mind and just give everything your best effort, just "Have a go". With a positive attitude you will be surprised what you can achieve.
In your Visual Arts Diary each week i would like you to complete some drawing/artmaking activities, this will help to improve your drawing/artmaking skills gradually each week. By the time you complete these activities each week, over time your skills will build in a variety of areas. It is compulsory to complete these tasks each week, i will add some extra 'challenge' activities for students who want to take this further and require some extra tasks.
I will add some samples of artists whose sketchbooks become artworks within themselves and this will guide your own ideas and approach, as to how you set out a page OR how far you can go with each artmaking task. You first weeks work is your title page which we completed at school.
You should spend a minimum of 15 minutes on each drawing!! Use a full VAD page or more.
Week Two: Sit on your back step at home and sketch everything you see from your viewpoint. Include lots of detail, shading etc... you can build colour in if you wish.
Week Three: Look out your bedroom window and draw the view you can see. Include the window frame as your frame for the work.
Week Four: Sitting in your street or Driveway draw your view, using the one point perspective skills i have shown you in class.
Week Five: Imagine you have a magnifying glass and you can zoom into a detailed view of a scene. Locate some interesting textures using this idea. Create an artwork showing your interpretation of these textures. This work in your VAD could combine photo's, collage, drawing etc.....
Week Six: Develop a design for your own environmental piece of 'Land Art'. You must then follow your design to create the actual installation work. Once the artwork is created in situ, outside in a natural space, you must photograph it and include those photographs in your VAD too.
A few more tasks will follow soon to finish off the terms VAD extension work.
Thanks miss for the great outline of our VA topic for this term. :]
